"Tourists are becoming increasingly demanding with tourism options. Eco-tourism introduced by the Jordan Tourism Board is a unique concept and offers plenty to the incentive visitor who wants to experience Jordan's finest natural areas," said Marwan Khoury, Managing Director of the JTB.

Jordan's natural habitat is encapsulated in its national parks and reserves - from breeding centres for endangered indigenous species to areas of outstanding scenic beauty. Most of these destinations are easily accessible from Amman - the commercial heart of Jordan, making the region an enticing choice for visitors.

The Dana Nature Reserve is one of Jordan's leading protected areas and Eco-tourism is well established in this 308 square kilometer reserve, where man and nature co-exist in harmony. Jordan is also home to the lowest nature reserve in the world, Al Mujib Reserve. Just an hour and a half from Amman, lies the stunning biodiversity, which makes this reserve a focal point for study and exploration.

Eco-tourism is not restricted to Jordan's land environment. In the Red Sea's stunning underwater environment, fragile ecosystems are gradually being protected, thus ensuring the preservation of this natural resource for future visitors and local communities. The country is also an ideal location for bird watching as it lies on the migratory routes at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia.

"Eco-tourism is the way of the future and has tremendous potential - and at the JTB we are concentrating on promoting this aspect of tourism in the Gulf region. I am confident that with such a diverse choice available for tourists, people will find just the kind of recreation that suits their needs," concluded Khoury.
