Dubai Festival City appoints Director Leasing and Marketing

Dubai Festival City, the Middle East's largest mixed-use development project, has added Phil McArthur to its executive management team as Director Leasing and Marketing.

Mr. McArthur's role is to drive the project's leasing and marketing team with the core objective of attracting partners to the retail component and tenants to the residential component at the 1600-acre development. With the first phase of the development over 2,000,000 sq feet of retail are being developed along with the first three distinct residential communities.

Phil McArthur has over 25 years experience in entertainment management and the leasing, management and marketing of enclosed retail shopping centres. During his career in the shopping centre industry, he has been involved in the strategic direction of over 30 enclosed shopping centres with a combined retail area in excess of 15 million square feet on four continents.

"Dubai Festival City will have some of the most exciting retail and residential offerings anywhere in Dubai," he commented. "This exclusive Creekside development will provide Dubai with the ultimate lifestyle option: a waterfront sanctuary of affordable luxury positioned in the heart of a world-class entertainment and shopping destination."

McArthur's in-depth experience not only in the retail industry, but also in the Middle East, will add another dimension to the team of professionals within Dubai Festival City's leasing and marketing team. Mr. McArthur's experience includes a significant period based in the UAE where he was responsible for the leasing of a shopping centre portfolio in the Gulf that included a 1,400,000 square foot, regional retail centre in Dubai as well as three community centres.

Phil McArthur received the designation of Certified Shopping Centre Manager (CSM) from the International Council of Shopping Centres in 1986 and has held several executive positions with ICSC including President - Middle East Council of Shopping Centres. Mr. McArthur is also a member of the international education faculty of ICSC.

In his leisure time, Mr. McArthur enjoys playing trombone in classical and jazz bands and plays golf.
