Air Arabia increases flights to Moscow
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, January 08 - 2012 at 16:05
Air Arabia has expanded its services to Moscow via the carrier's primary hub in Sharjah, UAE.
Commercial Department Head AK Nizar said: "We are extremely pleased to announce the expansion of service between Sharjah and Moscow, which will further enhance travel options for the residents of both cities. Since the introduction of services to Moscow in October 2011, Air Arabia has seen great demand on this route."
An economic and political centre with a population in excess of 10.5 million, Moscow is the most populous city in Russia, which in turn is the largest nation on earth. The UAE is home to an increasingly large Russian expatriate community, and is also one of the preferred holiday destinations for residents of the country.
The first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, Air Arabia operates a total fleet of 29 new Airbus A320 aircraft, serving 70 routes from three hubs in UAE, Morocco and Egypt.
The airline last month announced that it received aircraft number 500 that Airbus has delivered in 2011. The new A320 is also the company's sixth new aircraft in 2011.
Air Arabia has now taken delivery of eight out of 44 A320 aircraft ordered back in 2007.
The delivery of the 44 new aircraft will be completed by 2016, and will more than double the size of Air Arabia's fleet, in line with its aim to increase its total operating fleet to more than 50 aircraft.
Direct flights to Moscow are available Tuesdays, Wednesday, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays departing Sharjah International Airport at 09:35AM and arriving at Moscow Domodedova Airport at 14:45PM. Return flights will depart from Moscow on the same days at 15:45PM and arrive in Sharjah at 20:50PM.
