Dubai to get exclusive Thai brands products showroom

Dubai is to get the first dedicated Thai branded lifestyle products showroom in a bid to promote Thailand's growing fashion brands. The plan was unveiled by the Thai Garment Manufacturer's Association at the 8th Thailand Exhibition underway at Expo Centre Sharjah.

The association, which represents over 500 garment manufacturers, says the showroom will be up and running within 18 months and is aimed at boosting the country's brands in the international markets.

"The showroom will be a great tool for promoting Thai brands not only to UAE customers but clients from throughout the entire GCC," said Chaiyos Kijkusol, Director of Thai Garment Manufacturers Association. "It will give regional buyers the chance to sample our branded products and will include men's, women's and children's wear, leather accessories like shoes, hand bags and cosmetics."

Thailand has successfully launched kids wear brands, like AIIZ, Ovo and B-Bush and teens wear Blue Corner into the UAE.

"Thai brands are enjoying great success in the Japanese and Australian market and this year we have identified the UAE as a potential market. We hope to bring 30 brands into the showroom," said Kijkusol.

The 8th Thailand Exhibition which ends on Tuesday is show casing 11 brands, under the government's initiative Distribution Network, of which five are in the fashion category.

"The Thai government has taken the initiative to help Thai companies to take their brands to the international markets and for the Middle East we will use Dubai as a spring board to enter the region and also reach the African and CIS markets," said Wipasri Chalaprawat, Director of Brand Promotion Division of the Department of Export Promotion Ministry of Commerce Thailand.

The Thailand Exhibition which ends its four-day run on Tuesday at Expo Centre Sharjah has a daily business card draw to win an air ticket to Bangkok, with a three nights stay at one of the top hotels. In addition to this the winner will also get an executive check-up with one of the country's best private hospitals.

The show is open trade visitors daily from 10am to 1pm and 4.30pm to 9.30pm except on Tuesday (30th) when the afternoon session will be made open to public and run from 4.30pm to 8.30pm. However, children under 16 will not be allowed inside the exhibition halls.
