  • PRESS RELEASE

Favoured by royalty and celebrities, By Malene Birger's distinguishable designs have now arrived in Dubai. The new store opened in Wafi Mall, showcasing the highly anticipated Spring 2012 Collection. Known for their crisp, polished fabrics and minimal lines, By Malene Birger's pieces benefit from attention to detail and sophisticated practicality.

Each collection features a selection of fashion fundamentals that could be dressed up or down for any occasion, day or night. Drawing on the masculinity of men's tailoring to contrast with femininity, mixing lush fabrics such as silk with linen; the result is often striking yet timelessly classic.

The Spring 2012 Collection will reveal a selection of showstoppers. One-shoulder jumpsuits and halter dresses with thigh-high slits are accessorized with gold snake pumps and chain-link shoulder bags. Hotpants are suggestively worn with a frilly floral blouse, or with a tuxedo jacket and an oversized silk bow. To complete this trendsetting look, there's nothing like the wide-brimmed straw hat to add a feminine flair. As always, the collection features a complete line of shoes, bags and adornments which support the overall look of the clothing range.

"Dubai has developed an exquisite sense of fashion, serving as an essential shopping hub for the entire region. By Malene Birger's contemporary yet sophisticated designs are perfectly suited for the modern city woman, with flawlessly structured material and supple fabrics", Helle Birk, owner of By Malene Birger in Dubai, said.

By Malene Birger's sharp contrasts and refined silhouettes have become part of a signature style tailored to remain in fashion. The designer has attracted members from the royalty and celebrities alike, becoming the preferred label for the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

Earlier this year, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, chose to wear the "Bullet Dress" by Malene Birger during a visit to northwest Canada. The dress, constructed from a silk and cotton blend in linen weave style, was ideal for the daytime event, featuring strong lines on the shoulders, reverse pleats at the waist and khaki self-belt detail.

Cheryl Cole, the English pop artist, was also seen wearing By Malene Birger on several occasions. In her 10th wedding anniversary party in London, Cheryl wore the Mondi embellished felt necklace, and on her way back to New York from the Cannes Film Festival 2011, she wore the designer's Bilas linen-blend crepe jacket.

By Malene Birger's first boutique and flagship store covers an expansive 400 square-metre duplex in the heart of Copenhagen. Worldwide, the designer has 42 boutiques in fashion hubs such as London, Stockholm, Oslo, Moscow, Lisbon, and Athens. In the Middle East, By Malene Birger is open in Casablanca, Morocco; Kuwait; Bahrain; and now Dubai, at Wafi Mall - home to some of the world's most influential brands, many of which are exclusive to Wafi.
