Thus, the company will present its suite of 802.11g wireless solutions, which include the Wireless Turbo 100Mbps product range. There will be live demonstrations for Gitex visitors. U.S. Robotics will also present the fastest real-time online gaming.

"This year's Gitex will focus a great deal on wireless technology," said Yusuf Syed, U.S. Robotics' regional sales manager for the Middle East and South Asia. "There is an increased regional interest in wireless connectivity, and a growing need for broadband Internet. U.S. Robotics will demonstrate, for the first time, the fastest wireless connectivity over broadband access. We will also exhibit the exciting wireless online gaming application, with the Wireless Turbo range."

A wireless home or small office network uses technology similar to a cordless phone to transmit information from one computer or device to another. The obvious benefit is that it does not require any wiring. This also means that users are able to move their laptop/PCs freely to a new location without having to re-wire the premises.

"Wireless is ideal for small and medium sized companies, because it saves cabling hassles, and affords them the flexibility they require at minimal maintenance requirements," added Syed, "On the other hand, many households in the Middle East are choosing to set-up networks in their homes, to share the growing number of PCs per household."

Wireless sharing of a high-speed Internet connection can be achieved by connecting users' Ethernet based broadband modem/router to a wireless access Point. Each additional computer in the network also requires a wireless adapter that can be connected using a USR Turbo PCI Adapter or PC Card. Sharing of broadband internet over wireless is however subject to local ISP clearance.

The U.S. Robotics family of 100Mbps Wireless Turbo networking products provides double the transmission speed, greater compatibility and better security than the existing 54Mbps products.
