Dubai Fashion 2012 off to a dazzling start

While anticipating the first fashion show to hit the catwalk, the huge crowd that was present got a wonderful welcome when the 'Flash Mob', consisting of 50 young women and men, came out of the blues to stage a dance act. Cheered by mall goers and fashionistas, the Mob grooved to the tunes of hit numbers like 'Thriller', 'What a Feeling' and a mix of other pop songs. The dance show, which came in for sustained and resounding applause, in fact, signaled the start of Dubai Fashion 2012, which will continue till 4th February.

Dubai Fashion 2012 is being organised by Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), an agency under the Department of Economic Development, and organizer of the Dubai Shopping Festival, in association with The Dubai Mall and Paris Gallery. Both are Strategic Partners of DEPE's Events and Festivals for the Year 2012. The official makeup brand for Dubai Fashion 2012 is 'MAKE UP FOR EVER'.

Connoisseurs of fashion were in for a great treat when the glittering fashion shows on the inaugural day of Dubai Fashion 2012 took centre-stage. The first show was presented by renowned Emirati designer Jameela Al Mansour. The models took the runway with her beautiful creations signifying femininity and sensuality in chic and elegant pieces. More than twenty items from her latest collections were showcased during the fashion show. The stylish frocks included long gowns embellished in dazzling gems and crystals of which some were matched with large hats that served as fabulous head pieces. The show displayed a fitting finale with two stunning bridal gowns, perfect inspiration for the brides-to-be and, of course, all the women.

Bebe, the internationally renowned women's retailer, came next on the runway. The crowd witnessed a splash of trendy flair that looked fabulous on the models. The collection included a mix of casual wear, work wear and evening wear which were all suited for young, cosmopolitan and modern women who love to treat themselves with trendy ensembles. The show displayed various pieces ranging from tops, pants, mini skirts, cocktail numbers, long dresses and party dresses. The show also presented great styling through the use of must-have accessories, must-buy handbags and sky-high shoes.

The last of the fashion shows that marked the beginning of Dubai Fashion 2012 was the ever popular I Love Fashion. Hailing from the roots of the television channel Fashion TV, this retail boutique has recently opened at The Dubai Mall, and now for the first time ever in Dubai I Love Fashion went to the runway to showcase its marvelous collections from Fall/Winter 2011-2012 and Spring/Summer 2012. The fashion show displayed over 20 pieces which included short cocktail dresses, casual tops and trousers, jumpsuits and mini skirts, in addition to the show-stopper which was a nude floor-sweeping gown. Dubai Fashion 2012 is set to enthrall fashion fans and mall visitors in the days ahead. On Friday, 27th January, the haute couture designs of Arushi, Dar Sara High Fashion and Label 24 were presented at the daily Fashion Shows while on Saturday, 28th January the fashion shows will feature the creations of Tamara Al Gabbani, DAS Collections and Anjalee & Arjun Kapoor.
