Android increases tablet market share

Research firm Strategy Analytics has said Android tablet computers are increasing their global market share, but Apple's iPad still dominates the category, AFP has reported. Tablets powered by Google's Android OS increased by 10% their share of the market to 39% in the fourth quarter, while the iPad accounted for 58% of the tablet market in the quarter, down from 68% a year earlier, the report said. Global tablet shipments hit a record 26.8 million units in the fourth quarter, up 150% from the same period a year ago, the firm said.
