Dubai Islamic Bank announces Performance Excellence Awards winners
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 01 - 2003 at 11:35
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) held its first Performance Excellence Award Programme ceremony on Sunday night under the patronage of His Excellency, Dr. Mohammed Khalfan Bin Kharbash, UAE Minister of State for Finance and Industry and Chairman, DIB.
The annual Performance Excellence Awards have been instituted in an effort to create a platform for internal development among the staff at DIB. The awards focus on enhancing teamwork, rewarding outstanding achievements and encouraging the bank's employees to improve their performance in order to encourage all employees to contribute to the success of the bank. The awards also aim to provide an impetus to unleash the creative skills and boost the performance of the bank's staff in order to help position DIB as a provider of superior products and services that cater to customer needs.
In a special message delivered to commemorate the ceremony, Dr. Kharbash said: "The awards outline the importance we place on success and development and they represent an incentive to achieve satisfaction, excellence and distinction."
"Through these awards, the bank is reinforcing its tradition of continuous improvement in its services across all areas of operations. Our emphasis on excellence and value-added services will enable the bank to pursue its vision to provide banking services in line with Shariah Islamic law. I would like to thank all employees for ensuring the growth and prosperity of the bank and for helping to preserve its leading position in the banking sector," continued Dr. Kharbash.
The awards programme has been implemented across the bank and its entire distribution network from September 2002. The first edition of the awards was instituted as a result of extensive co-operation from all employee levels across the bank, including the Board of Directors, senior and executive management and the staff. The expertise of UAE-based quality management companies was also leveraged to decide the final criteria of the award. The awards are decided on the basis of the monthly reporting system of participants from all branches and departments, in addition to monthly visits by the Higher Committee of the award to various departments and branches of DIB.
Commenting on the Excellence Award, Mr Sultan Al Mansouri, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Islamic Bank and Chairman of the Excellence Awards Higher Committee said: "Response to the awards was extremely encouraging and we can reflect upon the huge success of the programme. The relationship between DIB and its existing customers has been strengthened and I believe that an annual programme will allow the bank to capitalise on building those relationships further and embark on new ones with new clients."
"We have seen a significant improvement in employee performance which in turn has helped to position the bank as a provider of superior products and services. This has also been reaffirmed by the results of our new customer satisfaction index, which recorded a major increase in customer satisfaction for all the branches at DIB," he added.
Mr Al Mansouri also announced that DIB would be adding two new categories to the programme next year, to honour both Best Employee and Best Affiliated Company.
