- PRESS RELEASE
Thomas Klein International (TKI), the Dubai-based restaurant consultants, and their Chicago architectural office PS Studio, have completed the design concept of 'Public', a new café located in Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
Commenting on the design of Public, Paula Palombo, PS Studio Principal said, "Even though Public is designed as a public venue, it aims to give the patrons a homey feeling.
"Arm chairs and wall lights with side tables invite patrons for a longer stay, and a magazine wall is designed to allow people to sit and read while looking at those who come and go.
"We used a very a simple and minimalist design for the interior, using light wood for the counters as well as the furniture, combined with grey slate walls, as well as a light-hued concrete floor, which provides subtle combinations of roughness, smoothness and softness," added Palombo.
Public, located in Lake View Tower 1 in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, is owned by Greek investor, Theodore Zaravinos, and is due to open in April, 2012.
Thomas Klein International has been operating in the region since 2001, and has worked on a variety of projects including the Crème Royal pastry shop for The Royal Group in Abu Dhabi; Al Samadi Sweets and Café; as well as The Sultan Group's Prime and Toast, Butcher's Den, Pickles; and Pizzeta outlets.
Further projects include Sharjah's tourist destination Qanat Al Qasbah; Spazio restaurant at Prince Walid bin Talal's Kingdom Tower; Dubai Industrial City Central Production Kitchen; Dubai Media City retail areas; and various independent and hotel restaurants including projects for Le Royal Meridian Abu Dhabi, Four Seasons Riyadh, Moevenpick Hotel Oud Metha Dubai and Wafi City.
