Industry pros from Taiwan prepare for upcoming MEIS event

The Taiwan Trade Center (CETRA), Taiwan's foremost trade promotion organization, is pleased to announce the country's participation in the upcoming annual event at Expo Centre Sharjah - the Middle East Industrial Show (MEIS) 2003 - from October 19 to 22, 2003.

CETRA is leading a delegation of 37 companies from Taiwan to exhibit at the international trade fair this year. These industry professionals from Taiwan will be displaying the latest in industrial products and services and will share their technology in Hall 2 at the Taiwan Pavilion.

"In the past decades, there has been a gradual shift in emphasis in Taiwan, from exporting consumer goods to exporting industrial goods," said Mr. Steve Yang, the Director of Taiwan Trade Centre, Dubai. "Taiwan is currently the 14th largest trading nation in the world," Mr. Yang pointed out, "with a trade volume exceeding US$221.6 billion in 2002. Shipping over US$756 million worth of goods to UAE, Taiwan's exports consist primarily of computer accessories, communication products, auto parts and other industrial and consumer goods.

"Today, Taiwan companies are renowned for their technical proficiency, flexible production arrangements and price competitiveness, while their products are known for their multi-functionality, precision, and durability," Mr. Yang concluded.

Commenting on Taiwan's participation, Mr. Mubarak Balaswad, Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah said, "Given this comprehensive participation from Taiwan, MEIS 2003 will provide an excellent opportunity for local industrialists and traders to source the country's outstanding industrial products, services and technology."

The Taiwan Pavilion will display three major categories of products: Industrial products and accessories; Electrical and electronic products and parts, and Machinery. The first will feature valves, cables/wires, PVC sheets, electric drills, silicon cement, magnets, machine tools, glue, etc. The second will display motors, active and passive electrical parts, winches, automatic door openers, scales, pumps, electric scooters, lighting fixtures, etc. The third area will contain packing machines, food machines, dryers, gas welding and cutting machines, and machine centers. Other products to be displayed are LCD monitors/wireless network products, fiber optic signage, car accessories, and plastic caps.

MEIS 2003 combines five industrial categories, viz Fluid Control, Welding & Cutting, Test and Instrumentation, Factory Equipment, and Industrial Safety. The exhibition will be open everyday for trade, from 11 am to 6 pm from 19 to 22 October 2003.
