Sun highlights partnerships, integrated solutions at GITEX 2003
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, October 05 - 2003 at 09:51
- PRESS RELEASE
Integrated solutions with some of the world's leading software providers will be the highlight of Sun Microsystems Middle East & North Africa's (MENA) participation at the GITEX 2003 exhibition, it was announced today.
"Two of Sun's greatest strengths are the openness of its technology vision and the robust partnerships that Sun has forged with other industry leaders. Because businesses in the Middle East have largely mixed IT environments, GITEX is a critical opportunity to showcase how Sun's solutions integrate with those of partners like Oracle, SAP, and Computer Associates to provide the greatest performance level with the highest return on investment," stated Stavros Vougas, channel and marketing manager for Sun Microsystems MENA.
"Not only will Sun and its partners address some of the most pressing regional business concerns, including the need to reduce complexity, secure your information, and manage your enterprises more effectively, we'll also showcase industry-specific solutions for sectors such as retail and manufacturing," Vougas added.
GITEX also provides Sun with a forum to present its N1 vision to regional decision-makers. The Sun N1 strategy was created to simplify data center operations and reduce costs, and partnerships with vendors including Oracle are key to the N1 objective of enabling customers to dynamically allocate resources based on demand, thus significantly saving money on their IT investments.
Sun Shines Throughout GITEX Halls
Sun's focus within Oracle OpenWorld will be highlighting the company's support for the recently-launched Oracle Database10g, which is the first database technology to take advantage of the new data center environment that Sun is building with its N1 vision. Sun and Oracle will also showcase their collaboration to drive cost and complexity out of the data center, including initiatives in enterprise grid computing, security, high availability, clustering, and regional developer recruitment.
Within the SAP Arabia solution island, Sun experts will create a 'proof of concept' environment to provide live demonstrations of joint Sun and SAP solutions for the retail sector as well as for building enterprise portals for different industries. Sun and SAP will draw from regional case studies based on the diversity of shared customers in the Middle East to demonstrate how businesses in the region can improve system performance and reduce costs associated with their IT infrastructure.
GITEX also provides Sun with the opportunity to promote its new iForce collaboration with Computer Associates' Middle East (CA-ME) operation in the areas of security and enterprise management. Targeting GCC-based organizations in the oil and gas, financial, and utility sectors, Sun and CA-ME will jointly demonstrate CA-ME's Unicenter enterprise management solutions and eTrust security solutions powered by Sun technology, so GITEX visitors can see firsthand the functionality of different applications and assess the potential return on investment of their planned technology projects.
"Sun's participation with its partners at GITEX complements our N1 awareness-building efforts and our regional low-cost computing roadshow, currently taking place throughout the region. The participation of Sun's regional partners at those events, and the integration that we're highlighting with global partners at GITEX, demonstrate to Sun's customer base in the Middle East that our solutions are open, world-class, and address the business challenges that their organizations are currently facing," Vougas concluded.
