Jumar Trading will be operating from its headquarter and showrooms in the Al Ma'moun district of Baghdad and from regional centres in Basra, Kirkuk and Mosul. Jummar anticipates the Xerox business to be operational by mid-November 2003.

The agreement establishes Jummar as the supplier of the full range of Xerox technology including colour and monochrome printers, multifunctional devices, faxes and copiers as well as wide format engineering systems, production printers, digital presses and scanners. Additionally, Jummar will offer servicing and associated spares and consumables.

Signing the agreement in Dubai, Roy Harding, Vice-President and General Manager of Xerox Distributor Operations in Middle East and Africa said: 'With a population of over 20 million people, Xerox Corporation sees enormous opportunity in Iraq. We are pleased to return to the Iraqi market and through Jummar, Xerox equipment and technology will enable people to work better, thereby contributing to the reconstruction work now underway in the country.'

'Jummar will provide a full sales, service and after-sales business, including software. Within one year of operation we envisage an all-Iraqi staff of around 100 people covering marketing, sales, customer service and finance. It is truly a great day for Iraqi business,' commented Kassim Al Omar, General Manager of Jummar Trading.

As part of its commitment to Iraq, Xerox also announced a donation of ten Phaser™ desktop laser printers to the Iraqi Red Crescent to support reconstruction efforts. These machines will be delivered and installed free of charge by Jummar Trading at various educational establishments in Iraq.

'We believe Iraq will be well served by a local team with local knowledge. By drawing on our established logistical presence we can focus on the unique needs of our country's customers,' added Kassim Al Omar. 'Furthermore, with the investment in service, training and marketing provided by Xerox we see tremendous potential in the government and education sectors,' he concluded.
