Dubai Quality Group announces 'Quality for Higher Education Conference 2003'

The UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, is to make the keynote opening address at the 'Quality for Higher Education Conference 2003' being organised by Dubai Quality Group.

Dubai Quality Group is hosting the conference to raise awareness of the strategic role of quality management systems in educational organisations with the objective of creating higher standards in the higher education sector. It will be held at the American University in Dubai on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2003.

Dubai Quality Group has an ongoing commitment to support educational organisations to help them conform to international standards of quality and excellence. At the conference senior faculty and representatives from a number of leading institutes of learning will be presenting their views on the most effective way forward to enhance quality in higher education.

Ahmed Al Banna, Chairman, Dubai Quality Group, said, "We are very proud that His Highness has accepted our invitation to open the conference, demonstrating the commitment of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance quality standards in higher education across the country."

"In order to assist in achieving this objective a panel will be set up to compile suggestions and recommendation raised during the conference and conclude the conference by presenting a summary of the recommendations/suggestions to the participants. The deliverables of this conference from the panel are to forward recommendations and suggestions to the Ministry and the Dubai Executive Council for implementation, follow up, measure the outcome, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation", said Al Banna.

The conference will feature some known and respected names in the international, regional and local Higher Education community who will provide recommendations on the requirements for the implementation of a tangible quality system.

Dubai Quality Group hopes that participants at the conference will raise their awareness of quality standards in institutes of higher education and how to achieve them and develop fresh and new techniques to implement enhanced quality systems in their own educational institutions.

The format of the two-day conference will include sessions led by professionals, workshops and Q&A sessions as well as opportunities for feedback from the participants.
