- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, October 07 - 2003 at 09:33
- PRESS RELEASE
Acer Computers (M.E.) Ltd., one of the world's top 10 branded PC vendors, today announced it will use Gitex 2003 to showcase its largest ever range of mobile computing products.
Since the launch of the Middle East's first tablet PC - the Acer TravelMate C100 - at last year's Gitex exhibition, Acer has sold an impressive amount of units. Based on the demand generated from Gitex for the tablet PC, Acer aims for similar success with its newest tablet PC the TravelMate C110, the first and only Intel Centrino based Tablet PC in the Middle East.
"Acer expects the TravelMate C110 - which includes Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology - to be popular with visitors to both the exhibition and Gitex Computer Shopper," said Krishna Murthy, General Manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
"Acer has been a regular at Gitex for many years and it is the strong business benefits the exhibition delivers, which keeps us coming back. This year, Acer will be displaying everything from its latest tablet PC, the TravelMate C110, to its entire range of TravelMate and Aspire Notebooks, as well as its latest desktop PCs and servers."
Strong levels of interest are also expected for Acer's TravelMate 800, which has been selling well across the region. The model was the first Centrino-based notebook PC available on the global market.
"Acer makes every effort to be first-to-market with new technology and we are confident that visitors to the Acer stand will enjoy trying out just what Acer's wide range of TravelMate and Aspire notebooks are capable of," said Eugene Thomas, Business Development Director, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

The company's stand, at B3-1 in Hall 3, is set to satisfy visitors interested in SME and enterprise products and solutions with the latest range of Veriton desktops including the 3600G, 5600G and 7600G series models.
"The new series, which are the first professional PCs with the Intel 865G chipset, are high performance desktop PCs with integrated safety and management functions," explained Thomas.
"Designed to satisfy the needs of small, medium and large sized companies, the new Acer Veriton series PCs are based on the most recent IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 processors with Hyper-Threading™ technology, for the highest performance."
At Gitex 2003, Acer will also reach out to home-users with its Aspire G600p, which brings the world of digital entertainment and sharing into homes across the Middle East in one easy purchase.
"Support for a wide range of digital memory formats, a powerful processor, and exciting array of entertainment features, and easy access to the most commonly used peripheral ports have been brought together in a stylish and attractive PC that will form the centerpiece of any digital user's lifestyle," said Thomas.
"Acer Aspire desktop PCs are some of the best in the world, and visitors to Acer's exhibition stand will have the opportunity to discover the manageability, performance, and power these machines offer."
Building on the success experienced at last year's Gitex, Acer will again showcase its wide range of servers that provide Middle East enterprises with reliability, accessibility, serviceability, usability, and manageability in the corporate computing environment.
On show at the stand will be servers to suit the needs of enterprises of all sizes. The servers on display will range from the Acer Altos 300, designed for the small office environment, up to the Acer Altos G700 and 1U & 2U rack servers that help provide a firm foundation on which to build a business network
"Business and home users visiting the Acer stand at Gitex 2003 will be able to get a glimpse of what Acer's Middle East operation can do in terms of providing best-of-breed technology coupled with unparalleled support, services, and spare parts," concluded Murthy.
