"We are delighted with the record support and interest the Dubai Terry Fox Run is generating among various organisations. The corporate support this year has been nothing short of phenomenal and we are grateful to all who are contributing to the event's success," said Calvin Pynn, chairperson of this year's Dubai Terry Fox Run organising committee.

Among the companies which are actively supporting the run through donations in-kind and volunteer support are MMI Logistics, the Royal Bank of Canada, the Canadian Business Council, 3M Gulf Ltd., Orient Travel & Touring Agency, the Holiday Inn (Bur Dubai), McCain International Inc., SS Lootah, BC Gas, Emirates - Skywards, the Welcare Hospital, Oasis pure drinking water, the Dubai Police, the Dubai Municipality and Wonderland - which will once again serve as the starting point for the run.

Mike Lee, Manager, MMI Logistics, stated: "The Terry Fox Run presents an ideal opportunity for companies that want to demonstrate their commitment to the community, while doing something positive and beneficial. It enables them, like it does us, to offer their staff a fun-filled family activity that can easily be combined with a private corporate outing. The Run also provides a healthy option for companies that are keen to encourage employees to consider personal fitness as a key priority."

Pynn says that in addition to offering services and support for the run logistics, several companies are also actively encouraging their staff to participate in the corporate challenge.

"This year, we have tee shirts available which companies can purchase and personalise to promote their participation in the run. The idea of a corporate logo emblazoned on the backs of an army of staff who are committing themselves to finding a cure for cancer has been very appealing to several managers," said Pynn, adding, "When people discover that an organisation is actively supporting a global challenge we all can relate to, their ability to identify with it and remember it in a positive light is heightened considerably."

Pynn says that this year there is a detailed Corporate Handbook available for organisations who want to organise their company's participation, whether on a small or large scale. It offers suggestions on how to encourage staff to sign on, and a variety of fund-raising options which they can engage in, to make a donation on behalf of the organisation.

"Participating in the Terry Fox Run does not necessarily mean you have to get your staff out and running - although we think that's a great idea! Alternatively, you can band together to raise funds which are donated to the cause, on behalf of the organisation. Every little bit helps, and we welcome all the support we can get, in a variety of forms."
