What to expect from the iPad 3

Apple has confirmed that it will be holding an event at 10pm UAE time on March 7 where it is widely expected to launch the third-generation iPad. The iPad 3 is expected to be faster and sharper than previous models, and consumers are expected to gobble up the device in record numbers.
Analysts say up to 60 million iPads will be sold this year, bringing the total sold since the tablet was introduced to more than 100 million.
The unveiling of the iPad 3 will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, where both the original iPad and iPad 2 were announced in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
As for what to expect, the rumour mill is all over the map, with experts speculating about an upgraded camera, a possible quad-core processor, 4G/LTE support, and a high-resolution "retina" class display like that of the iPhone 4 and 4S.
Omar Kassim, founder of Dubai-based e-commerce site Jado Pado, has put together a list of top 10 things we can expect from the iPad 3:
1. Pricing for the iPad 3 will remain the same as the iPad 2 and it is likely to be available in the UAE around March 16.
2. The main new feature will be what Apple likes to call a 'retina' display that would provide a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. The original and second-generation iPads both had a screen resolution of 768x1024, so this upgrade would double the number of pixels in both directions for a pixel density of 260ppi.
3. The iPad 3 should ship with an updated processor called the A5X. This is not a major revamp to the current processor but should be a good upgrade.
4. The iPad 3 will be available in the same capacities as the iPad 2, which were 16GB / 32GB / 64GB.
5. There was a rumour that the iPad 3 will not feature any buttons, but I think this is unlikely. The screen assembly parts have leaked (possibly repair parts) and they still indicate the presence of a Home button.
6. The iPad 3 may be called the iPad 2 HD, but I think the iPad 3 moniker is more likely.
7. The iPad 2 may be continued at a reduced capacity of 8GB, similar to the iPhone.
8. The other alternative that is 5% possible is a 7" to 8" iPad mini. Pretty unlikely, but the rumours are out there.
9. It's expected that the iPad 3 will be available on March 16 in the USA as well as in other key launch markets. This is exactly the same as last year, with the iPad 2 being available 9 days after the announcement. A new Apple store opening in Houston was moved from March 17 to 16, adding fuel to speculation that this was done to coincide with the launch of the new iPad 3.
10. Apple's "One More Thing" may be a revamped Apple TV. Stocks of the current one have dwindled at all retail channels and Apple keeps pushing re-stocking dates back by a week every week. This has traditionally indicated that they're running down supply in time for a revamped product.
