"The Middle East is a key area for Western Digital and we greatly value the developments we are witnessing in this emerging market," said Hafeez Khawaja, regional director of emerging markets, Western Digital. "Participating at Gitex opens doors to new business opportunities and helps Western Digital continue building our brand in the Middle East."

The company will be promoting its products and services at Gitex in co-operation with its distributors, Al Yousuf and FDC.

"Supporting our distributors with their stands gives Western Digital the opportunity to promote our extensive range of products to the many customers that attend the exhibition," added Khawaja. "Our Gitex objective is to educate the market about the strengths of Western Digital and new applications for rotating magnetic storage. Digital storage is proliferating in many products beyond the traditional PC, and Western Digital is at the forefront of emerging-application development for hard-disk drives."

"Every personal computer has a hard-disk drive, and that market is very large. New products such as digital video recorders, gaming devices and music jukeboxes that use Western Digital hard drives are increasingly available worldwide."

Western Digital Activity at the Show
At Gitex, visitors will view first-hand Western Digital's Enterprise Serial ATA (ESATA) product - the WD Raptor hard drive. Introduced to the market earlier this year, the new product has attracted strong interest from enterprise storage vendors and systems builders.

Additionally, Western Digital will showcase its most recently launched product - the WD Raptor 74GB - to the regional market at the event. Based on the interest in the first-generation WD Raptor, the new 74 GB product, which employs command queuing and Rotary Accelerometer Feed Forward (RAFF) technology for increased performance, is expected to lead the evolution of SATA technology into enterprise environments.

At Gitex, Western Digital will have in attendance senior managers to meet with business leaders. "Having senior members of our team at the show demonstrates our commitment to the region and enables us to promote our capabilities to decision makers," added Khawaja.
