Arab Media Summit features highly interactive discussions on the reality facing Arab Women in the Media

Media women personalities face a hard reality, according to Dr. Aziza Al Mana, leading Saudi woman journalist, who moderated a worshop entitled 'The Reality of the Arab Women in the Media Field and their challenges' along side the events taking place at the Arab Media Summit.
Dr. Al Mana pointed to the problem of media coverage and the existing struggle between the duty to report objectively and the emotions that come along with supporting the basic issues that face the nation.
The workshop tackled many issues and point of views about the topic, and the opinions of those who believe that women should work harder to prove themselves, and those who feel that the attitude of men and the society stop women from following their ambitions.
One of the participants pointed out that women do not lack efficiency and that they have opportunities as all Arab TV channels are open to those who are interested in working. One of the female participants highlighted the point that women media personalities in the Gulf in general and Saudi Arabia in specific, face obstacles such as the traditions that forbid her from achieving her dreams.
Another view suggested the cure for prejudice is with more awareness and openness towards educating women.
Dr. Al Mana said male media personalities in Saudi Arabia enjoy a bigger advantage in academic scholarships and attending summits and special coverages in the biggest events, which allows them eventually to improve their experience.
One of the female participants pointed out that the main obstacles facing women personalities are the laws and regulations that stop them from doing their work properly.
The workshop agreed on the necessity of developing efforts to activate women's role in the media, and towards removal of all the obstacles that stop them from doing their jobs properly.
