- PRESS RELEASE
BenQ Middle East, the region's leader in digital lifestyle products, today announced it will use its participation at Gitex 2003 to showcase its newest and most innovative products.
BenQ's final plans were approved this week by K.Y. Lee, chairman and CEO of BenQ Corporation, who visited the region to review the company's preparations for the Middle East's leading technology event.
"Since last year's Gitex, the BenQ team have made it our mission to ensure that a regular stream of new products have been released to satisfy the Middle East market. By introducing innovative, well-designed and affordable technology, we have been able to grow our overall business in the Middle East by 15 per cent since last Gitex," said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East.
"Based on the recent release of the Joybook range and the ever-increasing selection of digital projectors, LCD monitors and televisions, and digital cameras, BenQ's business in the Middle East is set to continue enjoying success."
On Show at Unbeatable Prices
Focusing on the key element of promoting a digital lifestyle, new products on display at BenQ's Gitex stand - its biggest ever at 120 square meters - include the Joybook 8000, Joybook 5000 and Joybook 3000, as well as the latest LCD TVs, LCD monitors, digital projectors, and digital cameras.
BenQ recently made its entry into the mobile computing segment in the Middle East with the launch of the Joybook 8000, Joybook 5000 and Joybook 3000. The Joybooks, which are BenQ's first digital hub products to be made available in the Middle East, demonstrate the ability of BenQ's products to be both fun and functional.
"The Joybook models, which are fully-fledged multi-media devices, have integrated internal software. They enable users to do everything from connecting personal digital equipment, editing videos to sharing files and storage functionality," added Dung.
Lifestyle technology for the Middle East
Also on display at the show will be BenQ's newest LCD TV, the Q150, which offers a range of features designed to appeal to style-conscious and technology-savvy consumers in the region.
"What we are really demonstrating at the BenQ stand at Gitex is that our products can be used in a variety of environments. For example, the Q150 LCD TV can be used as a computer monitor and with a DVD player. With its built-in TV tuner and optional wireless kit, it can be easily moved from room-to-room," said Manish Bakshi, director and chief operating officer, BenQ Middle East.
Rotating monitor premiered at Gitex
BenQ will also be premiering the FP991 LCD monitor, BenQ's first "rotating" monitor. Aimed at corporate and small business users, the new monitor will bolster BenQ's market share in the growing LCD monitor sector.
Focusing on the needs of design professionals and engineers, the FP991 is bundled with a special software CD which, when combined with the monitor's rotating hinge function, allows users to switch display modes from portrait to landscape display with a touch of a key.
The rotating functionality is proving particularly useful for professionals who need to view images, spreadsheets or applications from both a horizontal and vertical perspective.
New Digital Media
Furthering the emphasis on its range of cross-over technology, BenQ is exhibiting its latest range of 15" and 17" screen LCD monitors. Additionally, its newest projector models will also be on show, including seven new models - a range of conference projectors - the PB 8120, PB8220, PB8230, PB7200, PB7220, PB2220 - and its flagship home cinema projector, the PE8700.
The new models, which are aimed at consumer, commercial and educational sectors, offer the latest in advanced digital light processing - double date rate (DLPTM - DDR) technology.
"We are excited about exhibiting all of our latest innovations to both business visitors at the Gitex show and consumers at the shopper fair. Visitors to our customer-friendly stand are sure to be impressed by our growing range and variety of products and models," concluded Bakshi.
The BenQ products are divided into four primary business units: network display (CRT and LCD monitors), digital media (plasma display, LCD TV and digital projectors), imaging network (CD-ROM drive, CD-RW drive, DVD-ROM drive, Combi drive, DVD+RW drive, multifunctional peripheral, color laser printer, digital camera, scanner, film scanner) and networking & communications (GSM mobile, CDMA mobile, GSM module, Wireless LAN, Ethernet Switch, xDSL Router, Gateway and Ethernet cards).
