The show will focus on new technologies, software and machinery, covering the entire range of activities in the oil and gas industry, from production to maintenance, as well as environmentally friendly drilling procedures and safety and rescue issues.
'According to a recent World Energy Outlook report, the world is currently producing about half of the oil and gas supply required by the end of the decade. Increased investment in the existing as well as in new production facilities can be expected, if the production of oil and gas is to rise above the current estimated annual growth rate of 2 per cent,' said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), organizers of the show.
According to figures released in early September in the Oil Market Report by International Energy Agency (IEA), which also authors the World Market Report, oil production in the world rose to 79.69 million barrels per day (mb/d). In the OPEC, Iraq contributed the bulk of higher crude supply. However, the current production is just half of the estimated 160 mb/d that will be required by 2010.
'In such a scenario, new technologies will certainly play an important role, as the effort will be to optimise production in the existing facilities, without an extreme escalation of cost. At the same time, the offshore and onshore facilities in the region can benefit from innovative techniques for reducing environmental costs and for upgrading or conversion of old rigs. OGS 2003 has been conceptualised to provide a forum to industry professionals, where they can examine the potential of the innovative technologies and software entering the industry,' added Godinho. 'We expect that the exhibits and the seminars at the show will provide a concrete picture of the technical aspects of the oil and gas industry in the years to come. Industry professionals will also have an opportunity to liaise with the technology and service providers and to open a new series of dialogues to convey the industry's requirements to technology developers.'
OGS 2003 will feature 250 exhibitors from over 30 different countries around the world, who will unveil a host of new technologies, including environmentally friendly drilling technologies, new software as well as a new inspection, repair and maintenance facility and training techniques for the first responders in an accident. The show has registered a strong presence of companies from the UK, Turkey, Russia, Malaysia, Italy, Iran, Germany, China and UAE. OGS 2003 will start at 10.00 AM on Sunday, October 12 at an inaugural ceremony held at the East Hall of Airport Expo Dubai. The Show will be open to trade visitors from 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
OGS to unveil new technologies for the industry
The rise in production of crude oil worldwide, and in the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) following the re-entry of Iraqi crude in the world markets, is expected to dominate the deliberations at the Arab Oil and Gas Show (OGS) 2003, which is to be held from October 12 to 15, 2003 at the Airport Expo Dubai.
