- PRESS RELEASE
The Advisory Board of The British University in Dubai (BUiD) has announced the appointment of three new members, representing the UAE Ministry of Education and Youth, UAE Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and British engineering consulting company, WS Atkins.
The new members were welcomed by the Board at a recent meeting, hosted by Emirates Aviation College in Dubai.
Brian Stanton, Chair of the BUiD Advisory Board, and Director of e-Learning and International Training, Rolls-Royce plc, said: "We are delighted to welcome the three new members of the group and look forward to working with them on guiding the new University. The advice and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Youth, and Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, will help ensure that The British University in Dubai enjoys close links with the UAE education sector and the workplace.
"There is growing interest in BUiD across the community, as we approach the opening in November 2003. We recently held a presentation on the University, in Dubai, for the British Business Group's Special Interest Group on education and training, representing a cross-section of educational institutions in the UAE."
The British University in Dubai is the first research-led university in the region, which will offer MSc and PhD programmes, from October 2004, in Informatics, Education, and Engineering, in conjunction with top-rated research universities in the UK. BUID will open its doors in November 2003 and offer a range of continuing professional development courses in its first year, while the University establishes new research projects of relevance to the region. BUiD will operate to the highest UK standards from its campus at Knowledge Village.
