Bait Al Zubair Foundation signs agreement with Ministry of Social Development

The Bait Al Zubair Foundation has formally signed an agreement with the Ministry of Social Development to build a new workshop in Al Khoud that will manufacture mobility aids to help disabled children in Oman.

It was officially signed by the Minister of Social Development, H.E. Shaikh Mohammad bin Said Al Kalbani and the Chairman of The Zubair Corporation Mr. Rashad M. Al Zubair at an event that will enable the construction project to begin.

The ceremony marked the beginning of the construction of the workshop following a highly successful fund raising campaign launched by the Bait Al Zubair Foundation called the "Children of Oman" that has encouraged leading corporate organisations across the Sultanate to join together to donate funds towards this exceptional project.

When the campaign was launched, a fundraising gala dinner initially raised RO 104,000 that was matched by the Bait Al Zubair Foundation to RO 208,000 to kick start the fundraising effort.

Since then past years, the Bait Al Zubair Foundation has been working in close partnership with the Ministry of Social Development to obtain the necessary approvals for the construction to begin.

Speaking at the signing ceremony Rashad M. Al Zubair said, "This is a very proud moment for the Bait Al Zubair Foundation and our like minded supporters from the private sector and indviduals as we are now able to commence the construction of the workshop that we have worked to raise the financing for."

Al Zubair added, "I am very grateful to His Excellency Shaikh Mohammad bin Said Al Kalbani for his personal interest and support for this project and for joining us today to formally sign the agreement that will enable construction work to start at the project site in Al Khoud."

"This has been a team effort from the very start and we have been overwhelmed with the generosity of so many corporate houses in their donations and the support we have received from the media and others to back our initiative. The children of Oman are the future of our nation and it is up to us to support and nourish them," he stated.

The Bait Al Zubair Foundation, which is the social and cultural arm of The Zubair Holding, says that the workshop is aimed to be completed by 2013 and will have the capability to manufacture and produce required mobility aids of differing types every year.

Bait Al Zubair Foundation seeks to raise funds to support child related causes and is fully committed to giving its support to long-term initiatives that will make a substantial difference to young people across the Sultanate.

The Children of Oman is an excellent example of the strategy the Foundation is committed to delivering to ensure that children are able to benefit from projects and initiatives for many years to come.
