Emirates Post launches retail services at Jumeirah and DICC post offices

Emirates Post has started offering non-postal retail services at two post offices in Dubai, as part of its strategy to transform post-offices into one-stop community services centers.

The two post offices selected to launch the first phase of the retail project are the Jumeirah post office and the newly opened post office at the Dubai International Convention Centre (DICC).

The retail services currently being offered at the two post offices include Dubai Municipality's prepaid parking cards, Etisalat's prepaid telephone cards, stationery items and greeting cards. In addition to all these services, Jumeirah Post Office also offers E-Vision subscriptions and newspapers & magazines.

"The new vision of Emirates Post is to converge a host of services within the confines of a post-office, in keeping with global developments," said Mr. Ibrahim Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post. "We have prepared a detailed plan to extend the retail services concept to more post offices in the near future. We visualize a scenario where almost every type of retail services will be available at post-offices."

Several new services are be added shortly at post-offices, including consumer banking in alliance with Union National Bank, Etisalat's Al Wasel service, payment of utility bills, Internet stations, mobile phones and accessories, and many other products which are still at the negotiation stage.

"Providing retail services at post offices is one of Emirates Post's strategies to fulfill its aim of becoming a commercial vibrant and customer-focused corporation by entering into alliances with reputed private sector companies," Mr. Al Daboos added. "We are negotiating with a number companies to launch additional services at our post offices so that our customers can save time and enjoy convenience by availing of multiple services."

The greetings cards are being offered in partnership with Carlton Cards. Stationery is being provided through Al Gurg Stationery. Newspapers and magazines are being sold following a tie-up with Al Nisr Distribution.

The two post offices are also offering a collectors' pack of Dubai 24 Hours consisting of a book, a DVD and a music CD issued on the occasion of Dubai 2003, the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group & International Monetary Fund, following a distribution agreement between Emirates Post and Arabia Productions.
