This is the 4th year running that DAFZA is taking part in the exhibition. The focus of this year's participation will be on the brand awareness of 'Dubai Silicon Oasis' (DSO) the global collaborative initiative under the leadership of the Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority. DSO is on course to become a world-class technology park encompassing microelectronics- and optoelectronics-related enterprises. In terms of potential business opportunities, DSO expects to generate a lot of interest amongst local and regional investors who would like to get involved in this visionary Government of Dubai project, which was officially announced a year ago by H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence.

Commenting on the participation in Gitex 2003, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum, President, Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority said, "Gitex is a great opportunity for Dubai Silicon Oasis to strengthen ties with industry players who have a strategic focus on the future of wireless technology. It will help create awareness and knowledge that will be beneficial to both DSO and the regional IT industry."

Dubai Silicon Oasis's proposed facilities, spread over a six million square metre capacity, will be visible for the first time via a land-use model displayed at the stand P7-1. Special guests from the semi conductor related industry have been invited to discuss about the latest developments and get an insight into the vast investment opportunities and the various activities that exist in DSO.

Further, with the completion of its Phase three buildings this October, DAFZA is looking forward to promoting its state of the art facilities to leading companies from the IT industry at the exhibition.
