'The first two days at OGS registered an estimated two thousand five hundred visitors from all across the Middle East, Iran, the Indian sub-continent and even as far as Europe,' said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, the organisers of the show. 'Our effort has been to bring together a spectrum of products and services targeted at the oil and gas industry, to provide a premier forum to industry professionals, seeking to analyse the potential of new technologies that are launched into the market. The success of this forum has been underscored by the phenomenal amount of business conducted on the very first day of the show.'
'This is the first time that UMC is participating in the Arab Oil and Gas Show and we are overwhelmed with the scale and professionalism of the organisers as well the participating companies. We expected our first show to be an exploratory visit to help us understand and meet the needs of the oil and gas industry in the region,' said Daniel Garduz, Marketing Director, UMC. 'However, we have received a very positive response from the industry professionals visiting the show, as is evidenced by the two orders we have already received on the first day itself. We have also been negotiating with more than 30 companies from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India and Malaysia, and we expect to strike some major deals within the remaining three days of the show. The show has also helped us establish long term relationships with the oil and gas industry in the Pan Arab region.'
UMC manufactures pipes for the oil and gas industry, as well as a variety of other metallurgical products, including wheels for the railway industry. UMC's pipes manufacturing division is located in its main plant, the Vyksa Steel Works, at Vyksa, Russia. The company supplies pipes to a number of oil and gas industry majors, including Shell and Exon Mobile. UMC is also a major supplier of pipes to the National Petroleum Company of Iran.
Besides UMC, another exhibitor Astec Valve and Fitting Company (AVFC) from India has received orders worth an estimated AED 1 million, on the first day, for its innovative 'GasFuse' product, that was launched at the show. The new product is a pressure safety valve that provides zero-leaks shut-off in split seconds in case of accidents. The company has recently appointed Faran Trading as its sole distributor in Iran. In a related development, the company has also appointed Masdar, a Dar Al Riyadh Holding Company, as its distributor in Saudi Arabia.
'We have had the opportunity to meet with, and develop channels of trade and communication with visitors from across the oil and gas industry in the Gulf region,' said Bobby Kohli, Chief Executive Officer, AVFC. 'The product we have launched at the show is a revolutionary one and we have been negotiating with a large number of companies in the region. By the end of the show, we expect to appoint a few more distributors in various countries of the Middle East.'
