"This service has proved immensely popular since we moved the GITEX Computer Shopper to Airport Expo due to the rapid growth of GITEX and providing a complimentary shuttle service between the two sites has proved very effective," said DWTC General Manager Exhibitions, Leasing and Property, Abdulla T. Qassem.

"The move to Airport Expo has worked wonders for Computer Shopper as the show has grown significantly with each passing year and retained its exhaustive focus on the consumer or end user," Mr. Qassem added.

Using two venues to host GITEX and providing a free shuttle service has helped reduce traffic congestion and enhance the show's overall ambience and logistics.

"A shuttle bus will leave every 15 minutes between Dubai World Trade Centre and Airport Expo Dubai to enable visitors from the Shopper to see GITEX running concurrently at the DWTC complex," Mr. Qassem stressed.

The proximity of the Airport Exhibition Centre to the DWTC complex is a bonus since it facilitates smooth traffic flow between both sites with no disturbance to an event's ambiance. With a fleet of vehicles including
30-, five- and six-six seater vehicles.
M/S Autograf will be providing this service.

GITEX Computer Shopper was first was first introduced as the retail arm of GITEX in the year 1992. There was a clear distinction in the audience profile of GITEX; namely B2B and B2C. After a survey amongst the exhibitors it was decided to have GITEX Computer Shopper as a separate show, adjoining the trade show.

The decision was well received by all the GITEX exhibitors as it allowed each one of them to dedicate more time on their stands to serious customers.

GITEX Computer Shopper moved to the Airport Expo Dubai in the year 2000. As the new venue was now available, it was decided to move the Shopper there as it would accommodate all the exhibitors under one roof as well as it had enough parking space for the exhibitor as well as visitors. It also provided a lot more on-site facilities to the exhibitors.

Total floor space for the Computer Shopper this year has grown by a phenomenal 120 per cent (at the time of going to press). The major areas that have registered significant growth include gaming and telephony. Microsoft, Jumbo, Al Futtaim Trading, Emirates Computers, Al Sayegh Bros, BenQ and Jackys have all increased the size of their participation from last year.

Sony, the worlds leading consumer Electronics Company and manufacturer of the premier gaming platform PlayStation will be bringing the "Middle East PlayStation Experience" to Dubai at the GITEX Computer Shopper.

Emirates Computers and NOKIA will present the "Magic of Technology" and international Illusionist show that will highlight the very latest in telecommunications and computer technology.
