Mashreqbank opens third branch in Doha

The branch was officially opened by His Excellency Abdullah Bin Khaled al-Attiyah, Governor of the Central Bank of Qatar, and accompanied by Mr. Abdulla Bin Ahmed Al Ghurair, President of the Mashreqbank Group, Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chief Executive Officer of Mashreqbank and other Central Bank and Mashreqbank officials.

The new branch features a 24-hour public anteroom with ATM, phone banking and an online banking kiosk.

"Mashreqbank has been active in Qatar for more than thirty years and the opening of our third branch here is an indication of our confidence in Qatar's rapidly growing and robust economy, thanks to the wise, visionary and dynamic leadership of H. H. The Emir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani," said Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair.

Following the bank's 'Clicks and Mortar' philosophy, the branch provides all the services of a main branch by using advanced technology to integrate all of its back office functions centrally.

"Mashreqbank is customer focused and committed to responding to the needs of the public and business community. This means equipping our branch network with the most advanced and user friendly remote banking services via the Internet, Phone and SMS technology as well as the latest electronic cheque clearing equipment," added Mr. Al Ghurair.

The branch offers a full range of retail banking products and services including credit cards, flexicash, MashreqMillionaire, personal loans, investment products and fixed deposits as well as corporate banking facilities.

"Qatar's economy is experiencing rapid growth across nearly all sectors and we are delighted to be able to play a role in facilitating major development projects. Already we have provided financing for some of the largest projects in Qatar including the landmark City Centre project and the Ras Laffan Water Pipeline," added Mr. Al Ghurair. "In many of these instances we were able to offer advanced financial instruments and include domestic Qatari banks in the syndications," he concluded.

The modern and attractively merchandised premises covers over 250 sq metres and provides conventional teller services as well as interview and lounge facilities.

Mashreqbank opened its first dedicated branch in Qatar in 1972 and inaugurated its second branch in May 2002. With a capital base of QR93 million it is currently the second largest foreign banks in Doha in terms of profitability and the new Bin Towar branch will see its staff increase to over 70.
