Middle East Industrial Show opens tomorrow at Expo Centre Sharjah

Open up to 22 October, the show has been conceived as a complete industry event, positioned to address and meet the growing needs and challenges of the Middle East's booming manufacturing sector.

The event combines five industrial categories under one roof, namely, Fluid Control, Welding & Cutting, Test and Instrumentation, Factory Equipment, and Industrial Safety.

Speaking at a press conference organised on the eve of the show at Expo Sharjah Centre, Mr. Mubarak Balaswad, Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah said, "The Middle East Industrial Show at Expo Centre Sharjah is dedicated to the growing factory automation, equipment and servicing needs of the Middle East's manufacturing environment, that has been largely generated by the successful economic diversification carried out by the UAE and other Arabian Gulf countries.

"The show will serve as a powerful platform for demonstrating industrial technology and machinery to high-calibre decision makers from the Middle East. It will act as a unique forum interfacing investors, industrialists, professionals and industrial suppliers for greater synergy and interaction, ultimately leading to profitable new ventures and business deals," he added.

The event features national participations under the banner of the China External Trade Development Corporation (CETRA) from Taiwan, IDRO International from Iran and participants from Australia, Austria, China, Germany, Italy, Poland, Korea, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The companies will be displaying industrial products and services, in a wide range of categories, namely: Abrasives; Automatic doors; Auto parts and accessories; Building materials; Chemicals; Commercial vehicles; Communication devices; Drills; Dryers and water heaters; Electrical panel control components; Fans (commercial and industrial); Food processing machines; Grinding wheels; Machine tools including CNC, cutting, milling and forming machines; Magnets; Meshes; Mold and dies; Motors, pumps, valves; Packaging and sealing machines; Paints and powder coatings; PET plastic finished products and plastic parts and components; Pneumatic fitting manufacturer; Polishing equipment; Road signs and safety equipment; Safety products; Satellite receivers; Technical gases; Welding consumables; Welding equipment manufacturer and supplier; Winches; Woodworking machines; Working clothes; Vacuum forming press; Ventilation system and equipment.

To further enrich the visitor experience, two concurrent events are being held during MEIS 2003. A 'Buyer-Seller Meet, Baden-Wurttemberg' will be held on 20 and 21 October, which features sixteen top industrial suppliers from Germany's leading industrial state of Baden-Wurttermberg. The state's Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Walter Döring is heading the delegation of the companies, which represent a wide range of industrial products made for niche markets.

The categories represented by the participants include:
-Plastic injection, injection-mold-makers
- Architects, interior architects
- Gastronomy, food conveyor systems
- Plastic machinery: moulding machines for expandable polystyrene (EPS)
- Textile, apparel, clothes, industrial sewing machines, sewing machine spare parts
- Metal design, art metalwork and weapons
- Turn key planning, designing and production of sewage treatment plants, and relative products, construction of chemical machinery, food & beverage machinery and containers
- Satellite based telecommunications
- Swimwear, bathing caps, bathing shoes, swimming goggles, inflatable articles, aqua fitness articles, baby products, hot water bottles
- Ceramic membranes and filter systems
- Mercedes cars etc.

Besides the match-making event, the Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Döring will have political appointments in order to discuss the opportunities of further cooperation between the UAE and the State of Baden-Württemberg for the benefit of both sides.

Also, a Real Time Management Seminar organised by USA's well-known ARC Advisory Group will be held on 20th October. A significant number of representatives from manufacturing companies, Middle Eastern governments, and ARC Advisory Group will gather to share their insights and best practices for manufacturing excellence.

The ARC Forum is an internationally recognised executive event for manufacturers. Being held in Sharjah at the region's pioneering and most technologically advanced exhibition venue, Expo Centre Sharjah, the forum will be an ideal educational opportunity for industrialists in the Middle East, who want to move their organization to the next level of performance.

The Taiwan Trade Centre (CETRA), Taiwan's foremost trade promotion organization, is leading a delegation of 37 companies from Taiwan to exhibit at the international trade fair this year. These industry professionals from Taiwan will be displaying ( in Hall 2 at the Taiwan Pavilion), three major categories of products:
- Industrial products and accessories;
- Electrical and electronic products and parts, and Machinery.

Taiwan is currently the 14th largest trading nation in the world, with a trade volume exceeding US$221.6 billion in 2002. Shipping over US$756 million worth of goods to UAE, Taiwan's exports consist primarily of computer accessories, communication products, auto parts and other industrial and consumer goods.

IDRO International Trading Company, Iran, a well established and reputable company involved in international trade, will be bringing a large pavilion of companies from Iran at the show. The main objective of the company is promoting and exporting Iranian manufactured products, commodities and services to overseas markets.

The exhibition will be open everyday for trade, from 11 am to 6 pm from 19 to 22 October 2003.
