The new range of servers consist of up to 20 blades in a three unit rack space, in which every blade realises a complete compute node with its own main memory, hard disks and network interface.

PRIMERGY BX 300 is being launched in the Middle East at GITEX Dubai 2003, the region's biggest IT show, to be held from October 19 to 23. During the show, FSC will facilitate interactive display and analytical discussions of the new blade server's potential.

"For growing businesses, one of the biggest concerns can be the escalating costs of the increasingly complex IT systems. Such enterprises require business critical computing solutions that are scaleable and flexible, and ones that will adapt to changing IT needs," said Colin Britto, Sales Manager Large Enterprise, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "At the same time, large corporations and especially small and medium enterprises need IT solutions that can function effectively in all sorts of environments, so that IT systems failures do not critically harm business operations."

"The new blade servers have been designed to offer this increased flexibility and scalability to enterprises that are undergoing exponential growth," added Britto. "FSC has drawn upon its considerable expertise in the area of business critical computing to incorporate disaster tolerance features into the PRIMERGY BX300, so that user networks are not vulnerable to unforeseen and unrecoverable loss of data."

The new range of servers are ultra-compact systems that are perfectly suited for web or caching services and communication applications in the front-end area of server farms. Because of the modular design of PRIMERGY BX300 blade server systems, the new servers are extremely flexible, scalable, easy-to-service and highly available. They provide a high computing power per unit of space with significantly lower power consumption compared with traditional servers.
