In total, Tejari honoured 10 organizations for the commitment they demonstrated to online procurement during the GITEX 2003 exhibition.
Of the 10 awards presented by Tejari's CEO, Shaikha Lubna Al-Qasimi, four were presented to organizations that were also recognized at last year's ceremony. The four departments returning to the winner's circle included Dubai Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corp, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Dubai Police General Headquarters and Dubai Municipality.
After presenting the awards to the winners, Shaikha Al-Qasimi said, 'Tejari's marketplace has become the region's online business leader through the dedication of all its members. What we are recognising with these awards is the outstanding commitment that our trading partners have made to using online marketplace to speed up the selling and buying process.'
Dubai Municipality, which picked up an award last year for conducting the best campaign for bringing the largest number of its suppliers onto the marketplace, was recognized at this year's ceremony for conducting the highest number and value of awarded auctions.
Tejari recognized Dubai Electricity & Water Authority for being its most committed buyer and Dubai Police General Headquarters was presented with an award for running the most successful supplier's adoption campaign.
The final repeat winner from 2002 was Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corp, which took home an award this GITEX for creating the highest number of online purchase orders and overall supplier enablement.
