Executives at both companies expressed confidence that the joint initiative will provide additional stimulus to Sun and Oracle's campaign to drive cost and complexity out of the data center, with material and live demonstrations available to support ongoing enterprise grid computing, security, and clustering initiatives.

"Sun and Oracle have worked together to build the standard for enterprise computing in the Middle East for more than a decade, and it's only fitting that we should come together at GITEX to demonstrate some of our most robust and integrated solutions," said Stavros Vougas, channel and marketing manager, Sun Microsystems Middle East and North Africa.

Partnership with vendors like Oracle underscores Sun's N1 vision, which delivers a technology environment where customers allocate resources in their organizations according to business need, thereby dramatically reducing costs and simplifying their data center operations.

"Together, Sun Microsystems and Oracle support hundreds of customers in the Middle East, and our level of integration provides both existing and potential new customers with access to high-end solutions at a lower cost and with less complexity," said Ayman Abouseif, Oracle's senior marketing director for Middle East and Africa.

"The key benefit of Oracle Database 10g is that it enables IT to focus more on business-critical issues, by reducing the burden of repetitive administrative work. Aligned with Sun's data center environment, we're confident that we're witnessing a tremendous simplification of IT systems management," added Abouseif.

One of the highlights of Sun's participation in the event will be a live link through to the Tech Access Solution Center, the region's only Sun Authorized iForce Ready Center, based in Dubai Internet City.

In addition, live on-stand demos will offer visitors an insight into the suitability of Sun's servers and the Solaris Operating environment as the preferred platform for the Oracle E-business Suite solution.

Visitors to GITEX can see the Sun Microsystems - Oracle partnership in action in Hall 5, Oracle OpenWorld.
