- PRESS RELEASE
Acer Computers (M.E.) Ltd. today announced it has launched a new generation of Aspire desktop PCs to meet the needs of people in the Middle East who want their home computer to be more than just a work-station.
"Because Acer aims to continue expanding business at a strong rate, we are now focusing attention on the next hot sector - the home entertainment market. Acer's market analysis indicates that the next big trend to open up in the region is going to be PCs that provide an entire range of home entertainment options," commented Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
Aspire RC500 Saves Money and Space
Acer's new Aspire RC500 - which is the company's first-generation model from its "enjoyment center" concept - will meet the requirements of people wanting a desktop PC that does everything from playing films and functioning as a television to playing music or listening to the radio.
Murthy says sales for the Aspire RC500 will be strong in the Middle East based on its all-in-one design and its reasonable price. He said: "The Aspire RC500 is an economical solution that rolls all the requirements of home entertainment into one platform. The solution cuts down costs and also helps to save space in the home."
The Acer Aspire RC500 which is specially designed to be easy-to-use, features five entertainment modes - including video, television, photo album, music and radio - and powerful PC functionality. It also features a wireless keyboard and mouse that eliminates cable clutter.
With a Super Dial and remote control for easy navigation, the Aspire enjoyment center is as simple to use as a standard home appliance - with the sophistication of the latest digital products available in the market. "Owners of the 'pleasure center' can easily switch between the six modes of entertainment from the comfort of their couch by using the remote control," said Murthy.
"Additionally, the wireless peripherals further enforce the importance of comfort in the home. Without cables connecting the mouse and the keyboard to the PC, users do not need to be too close to their computers."
Power Behind the Aspire Enjoyment Center
All Acer Aspire RC500 models are based on Intel Pentium 4 processors with an Intel 865G chipset supporting FSB at 800 MHz with support for Intel Hyper-Threading technology. The PC3200 DDR-SDRAM memory can be expanded up to 4GB, and the ATA 100 hard disks up to 120GB. Graphics cards in AGP 8x slots are latest generation to ensure maximum performance.
The Acer Aspire RC500 has a practical seven-in-one memory card reader supporting the latest digital file formats such as PRO, CompactFlash Type I, CompactFlash Type II, Smart Media, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard and xD-Picture Card. The computer also has two USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE 1394 Fire Wire port as well as speaker and microphone jacks.
Acer's enjoyment center can be quickly and easily connected to a LAN or the Internet with a built-in LAN card and modem. Users can also connect a range of peripherals including headphones, microphones, digital cameras, scanners or digital video cameras to download images.
