Emirates National Oil Company, (ENOC), and its subsidiary Emirates Petroleum Products Company, (EPPCO), have launched a consumer competition in conjunction with popular radio stations Channel 4 FM and Um Al Quain FM offering prizes worth a total of Dhs 600,000.

The 'Brain Blaster' competition will run from August 26 to September 30 with scores of prizes awarded ranging from Dhs 3 off a car wash to Nokia Communicators and a whopping Dhs 60,000 plus other valuable prizes for one lucky grand raffle winner, whose name will be announced on the last day of the contest.

"As the title suggests, the competition is aimed at educating our consumers in a fun way. Most of the prizes are electronic items of educational nature and range from telescopes to trivial pursuits, geography and chemistry sets to books and other school supplies," said Hussain Sultan, ENOC Group Chief Executive & Board Member.

"It's the first time the Group has organised a competition focusing on learning and education, but it certainly won't be the last."

For every Dhs 20 purchase, excluding petrol, e-cash, phone and parking cards, from the Group's Mini Mart, Star Mart and Aqua retail outlets, customers are entitled to an instant 'pull and win' coupon together with a booklet containing 100 general knowledge questions and answers.

By filling in their name and contact details, customers will be entered into a weekly raffle. Thirty entries will be drawn each week and presenters from the two participating radio stations will call them to play Brain Blaster on the air.

Contestants who can answer two out of three questions correctly will win a Palm M100 handheld computer, courtesy of Jumbo Electronics. Winning is made even easier as each contestant will be allowed to use one of three available assisted methods to increase their chances of getting the answers right.

"On September 30, all participants, including those who took part in the radio quiz, will enter the grand raffle for the chance to win Dhs 60,000 in cash, as well as many other valuable prizes," said Sultan.

"The competition will be heavily promoted with print and radio ads and with posters and leaflet distribution across the network's points of sale."
