Sybase launches the latest version of its Enterprise-Class RDBMS, Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5.1

Sybase ASE has established itself as one of the most cost-effective data management platforms for business-critical computing, and builds on that reputation with the introduction of key enhancements in version 12.5.1 to further drive down total cost of ownership and operations.

The ASE 12.5.1 builds on announcements earlier this year on record-breaking Linux performance, the real-time database partnership with TIBCO, TPC-H benchmarking tests for the highly-scalable analytical engine, Sybase IQ 12.5, as well as the leadership in mobile data management solutions.

New capabilities in this RDBMS release enable customers using Sybase ASE 12.5.1 to affordably close today's "Operational Gap" - the gap created between the need to scale up to handle exponential growth in data volume/complexity, and the need to control or reduce the cost of data management - including people, systems and applications.

Demonstrated lower TCO results
"Based on our analysis of thousands of applications, the total life-cycle cost of most RDBMS applications will be, on average, more than 15 percent lower when running on Sybase ASE versus the equivalent offering from Oracle Corporation," said Jim Johnson, chairman, The Standish Group.
