"We are pleased with the response the event has generated in the first three days and the vast range of first-class consumer options on display have roused the public's appetite for the newest IT products available in the region and Computer Shopper is delivering its promise as a consumer extravaganza," said DWTC Director General, Mubarak bin Fahad.

Computer Shopper is the ideal venue for vendors to reach consumers keen to own the newest products in the information technology sector. "Consumers looking for the best deals in hardware, software, office equipment, computer accessories or the newest in audio, video and electronic equipment are swarming the venue," Mr. bin Fahad observed.

The show has registered a phenomenal 136% growth in total floor space and an outstanding surge of 14% in the number of exhibitors.

"The splendid increase in the size of the show has also reflected on a wider and better range of consumer options, that help expose consumers to the newest IT products available in the region," Mr. bin Fahad stressed.

Gitex Computer Shopper is an integral part of Gitex Dubai, the largest IT exhibition in the Middle East.

As compared to 2002, the visitor response in 2003 has been a lot stronger with a 21.5% increase over last year's ticket sale figures. The level of transactions has also increased significantly. A much stronger visitor attendance and sales surge is expected in the final three days of the show.

The major areas that have registered significant growth include gaming, digital imaging and telecommunication technology. Microsoft, Jumbo Electronics, Al Futtaim Trading, Emirates Computers, Al Sayegh Bros, BenQ and Jacky's have all increased the size of their participation from last year.

Sony, the world's leading consumer Electronics Company and manufacturer of the premier gaming platform PlayStation have brought the "Middle East PlayStation Experience" to Dubai at the Gitex Computer Shopper.

The "Middle East PlayStation Experience" involves a set up of an integrated interactive entertainment arena in the same hall as the Gitex Computer Shopper at Airport Expo. With around 150 PlayStation consoles loaded with the latest software titles, the "Middle East PlayStation Experience" is the perfect platform to bring gaming to the masses and give them an opportunity to experience a wide genre of games under one roof. One of the most significant aspects about the Sony PlayStation Arena is that entrance is free and open to all.

The latest in audio, video and electronic equipment is sold at the event attracting hordes of consumers looking for best bargains and deals and access to the newest technological solutions.

Emirates Computers and Nokia have for the first time in the Middle East presented the 'Magic of Technology' at the Shopper. An international illusionist is performing six shows per day highlighting all the features of the latest technology. Each show features well-known DJ's from Radio and MTV, along with colourful dance acts and fantastic illusions.

In 2002 more than AED 34 million in recorded retail sales were generated providing a clear indication of the fact that the show was an outstanding success for both vendors and consumers.
