The model, which is red in color, is aimed at fast-moving business people who appreciate stylish design merged with efficient technology.

"In the Middle East, the overall notebook market has been growing in excess of 50 percent year-on-year, which is deeply satisfying, but Acer's growth across the region has exceeded our expectations. So far we have exceeded 100 percent growth on 2002," said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

"With the launch of this traffic-stopping notebook we expect sales to increase significantly. People in this region enjoy technology which is both innovative and attractive."

The new notebook celebrates Acer's appointment as an official supplier to the Ferrari team. As part of the deal, which was announced in February, Acer provides the Ferrari team with notebooks, PCs, servers and monitors.

At Gitex, visitors to Acer's stand - B3-1 in Hall 3 - have been able to test-drive the new notebook model as well as get up close to an actual car from the Formula One fleet. The car, which was transported to Dubai for the exhibition, has attracted a lot of attention from show attendees.

"Cutting-edge innovation and technology have always characterized the worlds of Formula One and information technology," said Philip Ashkar, director of sales and marketing, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

"The new relationship with Scuderia Ferrari is contributing to a boost in the visibility of the Acer brand and is strengthening our position as a leader in the IT market. The benefits of this relationship have already been realized at Gitex. Having a car like this on our stand is bound to attract visitors," concluded Ashkar.
