- PRESS RELEASE
BMW Group Middle East today announced that Oman's Al Jenaibi International Automobiles, a division of the Suhail Bahwan Group, has been appointed the exclusive importer for BMW Group cars and motorcycles in the Sultanate.
"Today, with Al Jenaibi International Automobiles in Oman, we have moved forward into a new era, one that will strengthen BMW Group's position as the leading premium car manufacturer in the Sultanate," said Robert Bailey-McEwan, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East.
The landmark 14,000 square metre Al Jenaibi International Automobiles facility is being constructed on an elevated site in Qurum, in Muscat's Capital area. In addition to a 2,400 square metre showroom, the eye-catching facility will include a large purpose-built after sales area, featuring the latest computerised service and diagnostic technology, offices and a warehouse.
"Our mission is to provide customers with a total ownership experience that consistently satisfies each individual's needs and exceeds their expectations in a comfortable, supportive environment," said Ahmed Suhail Bahwan, Chairman, Al Jenaibi International Automobiles.
"The new showroom, due to open early next year, will enable customers to familiarise themselves with the entire BMW Group product range in one purpose built, ultra modern, facility that will also cater for all their after sales needs," added Bahwan.
After sales excellence is a major priority for Al Jenaibi International Automobilies and of the nearly 100 people employed at the new showroom, half will be dedicated after sales personnel. They will include experienced BMW master technicians and mechanics whose skills will have been strengthened by training at BMW's regional training centre.
"We are confident Al Jenaibi International Automobiles' customer first philosophy will not only enhance the ownership and after sales experience for Oman's many BMW and MINI drivers, but also ensure that sales of the company's brands continue to grow strongly," said Bailey-McEwan.
"The Suhail Bahwan Group has excelled in various commercial sectors by listening to its customers, providing prompt service and implementing innovative practices. I am sure BMW and MINI in Oman will benefit greatly as the same policies are implemented by Al Jenaibi International Automobiles."
One of the largest business houses in the Sultanate of Oman, the Suhail Bahwan Group employs over 8000 people. Established in 1965, it has diverse business interests spread over 35 manufacturing, trading, and service companies, representing more than 100 world-renowned brands. An aggressive marketing style, coupled with the philosophy of strong after-sales service and a nationwide network of branches, to reach consumers in the remotest town, has resulted in many of its products becoming market leaders.
The announcement of the new partnership, between BMW Group Middle East and Al Jenaibi International Automobiles, coincides with the arrival in the Sultanate of the all-new 5 Series, the fifth generation of the saloon that has won the most 'Best Car of the Year' awards.
The new saloon features an elegant and sporty design, spacious comfort and a host of innovative technologies, such as Active Steering, Adaptive Headlights, Bluetooth wireless mobile telephone technology and run-flat tyres.
Bahwan said: "The car has been designed taking into consideration the requirements of both families who want more space and safety, as well as young executives who want more style and performance. Forming a powerful central pillar within the BMW model range, this model will, undoubtedly, set the benchmark in the market and continue the successful tradition of the BMW 5 Series. "
The arrival of the new 5 Series will be followed early next year by the launch of the dynamic and versatile BMW X3. The first premium model in the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment beneath the BMW X5, the BMW X3 combines the characteristic proportions of a SAV with both classic and innovative design features.
The new BMW 6 Series Coupé is also expected to make its debut in Oman next Spring. This fascinating sports car stands out with an exclusive design. Sleek and flowing lines are supplemented by the harmony of elegant surfaces to give the car a unique character. A refined and powerful engine, outstanding sportiness and ample interior space all set new standards in the luxury sports coupé market.
"With our clearly expanded product range, we intend to increase sales by 40 percent by the year 2008 - to 1.4 million vehicles. We will be raising the BMW Group to a completely new level," said Bailey-McEwan
"Our vision for 2003 remains the same - to maintain our position as the fastest growing luxury performance car manufacturer in the region."
The BMW Group is the world's only multi-brand car manufacturer pursuing a clear-cut premium brand strategy that includes a portfolio consisting exclusively of premium marques; from the small car to the luxury segment. The three authentic brands are: BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce.
