- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 23 - 2003 at 12:04
- PRESS RELEASE
Etisalat has for the second year running paved the way for top information technology students from around the country to undertake demos of their state-of-the-art mobile applications at Etisalat stand in Gitex.
" We at Etisalat have been proud to see an elite of our young talented students with a flair of technology demonstrating their applications at Etisalat stand in Gitex. More importantly, visitors have been excited to attend the demos of the applications developed by students, which can only make customers' lives easier at a time mobility has become a key for successful business," said Ahmed Bin Ali, Etisalat PR manager
While a few students have opted to work on the development of applications for projects put forth by Etisalat, namely mobile parking, vending machine and home control, other students have preferred to work on their own projects using the expertise and technical advice offered by Etisalat. However, all the projects drew on Etisalat's theme "Smart office smart home", which will change everyday life.
" Etisalat is keen to nurture new talents in the UAE. Attracting top IT students from around the UAE to engage in creative projects that involve next generation technologies is a clear example of our commitment to growing new talents and supporting the community," added Bin Ali
Students have expressed their excitement about Etisalat's initiative as they have now seen their own ideas and projects materialize. " I was keen to develop an application that could help the service industry use mobile technology to their benefit. Thanks to Etisalat, my dream has come true and I managed to develop an application for water companies whereby they can take orders from Etisalat mobile subscribers," said Latifa Ahli, a student of software engineering at Dubai Women College.
" I am very grateful to Etisalat for having allowed me to acquire in-depth knowledge of applications development. As you can see, I have developed an application for fast food restaurants enabling them now to take orders from mobile users. It's really an exciting experience that I want to explore again and again," added Ibtissam Mohammed Al Awadi, another student of software engineering at Dubai Women College in Dubai.
