Last change to grab bargains as Computer Shopper draws to a close tomorrow

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) -organised GITEX Computer Shopper which has been drawing huge throngs of visitors over the last five days at the Airport Expo, Dubai, draws to a close tomorrow (October 24th), making it the last day for consumers to clinch bargain deals and take advantage of the throwaway prices and mega offers being made available by leading players in the market.
There are mega deals, fantastic bargains and unique experiences galore on offer for the consumers from some of the biggest names in the IT retail market.
Among the biggest attractions has been the Middle East Playstation Experience, a mind-boggling array of the latest gaming consoles introduced for the first time in the region. The 'Experience' is buzzing with crowds of enthusiastic gamers both old and young itching to get their hands on the latest available in the market.
Another big draw has been Nokia's Magic of Technology being presented in association with Emirates Computers. The stunning presentation of technological wizardry and entertainment have the visitors agog with interest.
Mega deals available include Al Futtaim's a-car-a-day giveaway promotion, great offers on Panasonic, Toshiba, Sanyo and Plug-ins Electronix including multi-media projectors, digital cameras, computers and notebooks. Toshiba are offering, for the first time, the Pentium 4 notebook at a rock bottom price. Toshiba's entire range of notebooks this Gitex Shopper are being offered with a 3 year International warranty and a free carry case. Toshiba is also offering dual purpose projectors that have a brightness of about 1,200 anti-lumins and a lamp-life of 3,000 hours.
Also under the Al Futtaim banner, Plug-ins ElectroniX offers great bargains on Acer desktop 2.6 Pentium 4 with a 15in monitor, Dell Centrino 1.3 notebook, HP Presario 2515 Pentium 4 2.3 with bonus media card reader and the new iMate pocket PC 2003 all going for rock-bottom prices.
Jumbo's special deals and offers including priceoffs and free gifts on mobile phones, accessories and gaming decks, gift vouchers and trade-ins.
HP, Compaq, Acer, Benq, Toshiba, Siemens, Nokia, Panasonic, Canon and many others have special prices just for Computer Shopper, attractive bundled offers, new products and promotions that just have to be taken advantage of.
Visitors have been pouring in to the venue from all over the region. Many coming in with their children in tow, leave them to enjoy themselves at the Middle East Playstation Experience while they do some serious shopping.
Nasser Al Shamsi, a UAE national who made the trip down from Abu Dhabi, was all smiles after making Dhs 15,000 worth of purchases, including a mobile phone, laptop computer and a high-end scanner. "The prices here have been better than expected. Shopper is the place to be for the best bargains in the region. I'm glad I came here because when I got tired of walking around the stalls, I went and relaxed at the Magic of Technology."
Ms Masooma Hassan, an executive secretary from Bahrain on a visit here with her husband Jaffer along their two children said, "I have enjoyed myself here, while Jaffer has picked up some fantastic bargains inside the exhibition, the kids and I have been enjoying ourselves at the gaming zone."
Briton James Meire, an IT enthusiast on a short stint in Dubai, was all praise for the organisation and the deals available at the show. "To have bargains like this all under one roof is fantastic. I made quite a few good buys and it saved me the hassle of scouring the markets to find what I need. Computer Shopper is unique in the fact that it offers not only the latest in gadgetry but also the best buys side by side."
As compared to 2002, the visitor response in 2003 has been a lot stronger with a significant increase over last year's ticket sale figures. The level of transactions has also increased markedly. The major areas that have registered significant growth include gaming, digital imaging and telecommunication technology. Microsoft, Jumbo Electronics, Al Futtaim Trading, Emirates Computers, Al Sayegh Bros, BenQ and Jacky's have all increased the size of their participation from last year.
GITEX Computer Shopper will be open from 3pm to 9pm tomorrow.
