Samsung to introduce PDA phones showcased at 'Digitall Inspiration 2003' in Middle East

Samsung Electronics, the regional and global leader in digital technology announced plans to introduce (Personal Digital Assistant) PDA phones in the Middle East by 2004.

The phone will be showcased along with a range of mobile handsets and other state-of-the-art digital products at Samsung's "DigitAll Inspiration 2003" global roadshow to be held in Turkey, Istanbul.

SGH-i700, Samsung's PDA phone is a mobile intelligent terminal built around the Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system from Microsoft. It includes Pocket Office for business needs, Windows Media Player for multimedia file playback and MSN Messenger for text messaging. The device includes a built-in VGA camera with a rotating lens to enable consumers the ability to share images with friends and colleagues.

Samsung Electronics enjoys a unique distinction of being the only major handset manufacturer to offer handsets based on Pocket PC and Symbian operating systems there by providing its customers a variety of options to choose from.

In addition to Samsung's PDA phones the other state-of-the-art mobile phones that are being showcased at the event are, SGH-D700, a GSM/GPRS phone based on Symbian operating system (OS) with full multimedia features, including video messaging and movie clip playback; SGH-i500, Samsung's newest terminal based on the Palm OS; the SGH-E700, that features an integrated camera and an "antenna" that ensures that the handset easily fits into pockets and purses. The night mode in E-700 means - all images can be taken in the dark or at night.

SGH-i700, the MMS-enabled PDA phone is based on Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system from Microsoft, and is powered with an extensive range of features including a built-in 330K pixel flash camera, 32MB RAM memory, JAVA capabilities, WAP 2.0 browser, 40-polyphonic ringtones, and a 65000-colour TFT-LCD screen.

Samsung raised its outlook for the global mobile handsets market as demand far outstripped supply and inventory levels of the company were at its lowest in half a decade. The company claimed that its new range of colour screen handsets with built-in cameras and other attractive features had turned the usually slow third quarter of 2003 into an outstanding period.
