- PRESS RELEASE
National Aviation Services Company (NASCO), handling agent at Kuwait International Airport, has awarded SITA Information Network Computing (SITA INC) a two-year contract to install and maintain SITA's Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) check-in service and its BagManager Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) at Kuwait International airport.
Currently 35 major airlines operate at Kuwait International Airport accounting for over 2.4 million passengers per year. SITA's latest Java-based and Internet Protocol (IP) enabled CUTE system will operate at 16 check-in desks and optimize resource utilization for the airport, as well as facilitate the movement of passengers through the terminal. Similarly, SITA's baggage reconciliation system, BagManager, will speed the handling of over 3.75 million bags per year at the airport and will help reduce flight delays while increasing passenger satisfaction. BagManager is a real-time interactive tracking solution, including bag load/no-load decision functionality that goes beyond matching hold baggage to the passenger on board. It also tracks bags at the airport from check-in, to loading in a container, to placement onboard an aircraft as well as in transit at intermediate airports and through to arrival at the final destination.
"SITA's innovative and reliable systems allow us to deliver even better service to our airlines customers, enabling them to share check-in and departure control systems throughout the airports and helping to minimize passenger queues. In addition to the obvious security benefits of SITA's fully integrated baggage reconciliation system it will also reduce baggage-handling costs," said Mr. Bara'a Al-Roumy, Board Member, NASCO.
"This upgrade project is particularly beneficial to the airlines, which are faced with increased passenger and baggage traffic, " said Mr. Fuad Gazal, General Manager, NASCO. "NASCO is very satisfied to have found a solution that will optimize its resources, as well as facilitate the movement of passengers through Kuwait International Airport while providing the added value of remote hosting and the latest technology for the minimum cost."
Jamal El-Hoss, Regional Vice President, SITA INC, Sales and Marketing Middle East, Africa, South and Central Asia, said: "We are particularly proud to implement our latest airport solutions at Kuwait International Airport. SITA is committed to providing the highest levels of service to our customers and will provide NASCO with the benefits of greater operational flexibility, data security as well as a reduction in overall costs and help ensure a seamless journey for passengers."
Focusing on the complete integration of the technology systems at airports SITA's solutions are aimed at helping airports maximize security, combat congestion, improve the utilization of limited resources and promote operating efficiencies, reduce costs and help identify new streams of revenue. They also provides airports with the technology architecture required to take advantage of a broad range of services based on Internet Protocols (IP) that are vital to the future of the air transport industry.
