Leading international retailer of electronics and general merchandise and regional e-commerce pioneer, Jacky's, today announced a whopping 102 per cent increase in sales during the seven-day GITEX Shopper with over 50,000 visitors visiting their stand.
On the success of participation at GITEX Shopper, Soni Tolani, Executive Director, Jacky's Electronics said, "At GITEX Shopper this year we made a tremendous impact with the size, scale and variety, including hundreds of laptops, mobile telephones and a whole range of cameras and accessories. Our sales at GITEX Shopper escalated to an unheard of 102 per cent, in comparison with the previous year."
This year, computers with higher specifications such as Pentium Centrino Processors did well and tablet PCs were in demand, as were the latest mobiles with cameras and PDAs (handheld PCs). Peripheral and all-in-one machines too found great demand amongst customers.
This year, most of the shoppers were from the GCC and other Arab States which included visitors from Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
Speaking on how GITEX Shopper had benefited and impacted Jacky's in terms of business, Tolani said, "GITEX is the period for exploring new contacts and identifying new markets in the IT Industry and it is safe to say that we at Jacky's have successfully managed to undertake wholesale business during this year's GITEX Shopper and have gained a leading position within the UAE."
The added attraction of winning five Holiday Packages in Jacky's Steal & Escape promotion, wherein, on purchase of products worth more than Dh250, customers were eligible to participate in this promotion and the winners identified through a raffle draw were Adham Ziad Sherif Barqawi - Sharjah, Vijay Jaisingh - Jebel Ali, Dubai, Mohd Owais Matwala - Dubai, Saeed - Abu Dhabi and Salha Rashed Obaid. This promotion was a direct result of a tie-up between Jacky's and Emirates Holidays with Cairo, Cyprus, Mauritius, Zurich and Singapore being the final destinations that the winners would be visiting.
Those who were eligible to participate in the Jacky's and Val-U-Shop daily promotion were the ones who purchased a mobile phone, with the winners receiving a Nokia 9210i. Seven such winners - Shoeb Ansari, Maria Vaz, Q. Mitha, Yahya Mohd, Alwyn Lewis, Suresh Kumar and Omar Aman - were announced amid much fanfare at GITEX Shopper.
Aside from its success at GITEX Shopper, Jacky's achieved another milestone by being the only company from the UAE to be nominated for the Best HP Retailer in the region. In addition to this, Jacky's was also nominated for the Best Designjet Channel Partners.
