  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 02 - 2003 at 16:33
  • PRESS RELEASE

Co-op Islami, the leading company specialising in Halal products in the UAE and Gulf, has registered a remarkable rise in sales in both the UAE and international markets with the Holy month of Ramadan expected to generate further demand for its range of high quality frozen chicken products.

Co-Op Islami has recorded an average 40-50 percent increase in sales in the UAE market, and a 30 percent increase in international markets, which include other GCC countries, Iran and United Kingdom.

Mr. Saleh Abdullah Lootah, Assistant General Manager (Operations) at Co-op Islami, said: "The Holy month of Ramadan offers us the opportunity to further enhance our strong bonds with our customers and consolidate their trust in a world-class UAE company like Co-Op Islami. The high demand in the first week of the Holy month of Ramadan has exceeded our expectations. Through our distributors, we have made arrangements to meet the heavy demand expected for Co-Op Islami products throughout the Holy month".

He said that Co-op Islami has been providing for over 20 years products that are pure Halal, locally produced, and which meet international standards of hygiene and quality.

Mr. Lootah added: "Since the inception, our marketing strategy has been based on producing pure Halal products according to Sharia practices. However, Co-Op Islami does not target only the Muslim community. Statistics show that a large number of non-Muslims in the UAE have selected Co-Op Islami chicken due to the health benefits that can be had in consuming the high quality Halal products".

Co-Op Islami has also launched a comprehensive advertising campaign through all media channels to provide a rewarding experience to those who fast and also non-Muslims in the UAE.

Co-op Islami ensures its chickens were slaughtered in the traditional Islamic method by hand, using a sharp knife without stunning in contrast to most other producers who slaughtered their chicken using electric knives that cut the chicken at random.
