  • PRESS RELEASE

In an effort to sustain its successful sales performance in 2003, BenQ (pronounced BEN-CUE) has announced a regional restructuring of its account management function, including the appointment of Syed Mansoor Hussain, a seasoned sales professional, into a new role to support its digital lifestyle products across the region.

BenQ's account management restructuring is designed to support its ambitious territory and product line expansion program, which has seen the company serve a number of new territories directly from its Dubai headquarters, and launch an average of three products every month in 2003.

Mansoor, who joins BenQ from Al Futtaim Electronics, will be responsible for stimulating sales of a number of key BenQ products, including its range of CD-Rom media and its new Joybook mobile computer line.

"Our objective is to make BenQ into the Middle East's best-known multi-media brand," said Mansoor. "We already know we have some of the most attractive, innovative products on the market, our challenge is to make sure that as many people as possible know about the benefits and enjoyment that they can bring.

"BenQ's account management and sales staff provide round-the-clock support to our channel partners and resellers across the region, and we're delighted to add Syed Mansoor Hussain to our expanding team of experts," said Manish Bakshi, director and chief of operations, BenQ Middle East.

"Our business model and aggressive growth plans require that we continually add to our pool of market and product knowledge, and Mansoor brings a wealth of experience with him," added Bakshi.

As part of the restructuring process, Manoj Tripathi has been promoted to country manager, South Africa, and will be relocating there later this month. South Africa, which came under the management of BenQ Middle East in 2003, has emerged as a fast-developing market for BenQ, with senior executives estimating that it will account for about 10 percent of total sales by 2005.

"Manoj Tripathi has performed to the highest standards in Dubai, and I am confident he will add significant value to our South African operations," commented Bakshi.

"It is another indication of the global nature of our operations here in Dubai that so many of our up-and-coming executives are now playing a part in BenQ's worldwide success. The reach of our Middle East headquarters is growing all the time, and its success is very much related to the excellence of our people."

BenQ's Jebel Ali plant has become the nerve-centre of its operations in the Middle East, shipping quality lifestyle products to countries across the GCC, Levant, North Africa and South Africa, with plans to ship products direct to India by the end of the year.
