Fujitsu Siemens Computers brings 120 French resellers on incentive trip to Dubai

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT vendor, recently hosted a group of 120 French resellers in Dubai, for helping boost sales of FSC products to record levels, beating all top IT vendors operating in the French market.

The incentive trip, hosted by FSC's International Sales Division based at Dubai Internet City, came as a reward for exceptional performance by the French resellers, reflected in a dramatic growth of 23.9 per cent in a sluggish market. The growth has high significance because most major competitors recorded a significant drop in sales in 2002.

"The performance of Fujitsu Siemens Computers in the French market has been remarkable. Despite the presence of global IT vendors who have been in the French market for much longer than us, FSC managed to come out an outright winner from the growth point of view," said Dirk De Waegeneire, Vice President, International Sales, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "We are delighted to bring the hard-working French resellers to Dubai, the headquarters of the International Sales Division, for a well-earned relaxation by sampling the delights of this great city as well as familiarise them with our new marketing strategies and product innovations."

During the four-day trip, the French resellers visited Dubai's famous landmark attractions such as the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Burj Al Arab Hotel, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Mosque, the Gold Souq, the spice souq and many shopping malls. They also joined a desert safari with barbecue dinner in the desert.

Making a presentation on the responsibilities of FSC's International Sales Division, De Waegeneire briefed them on the growth patterns in the region that includes the Middle East, North Africa, South Africa, Greece and Turkey. The International Sales Division was set up in March 2002, and has generated business of Euros 200 million. The division has a workforce of 120.

"This region has been displaying tremendous energy and vibrancy in the field of Information Technology," De Waegeneire told the French resellers. "Dubai is a prime example of this dynamism. FSC is one of the fastest growing IT vendors in the UAE where we have managed to make significant inroads into the market. FSC has recently joined the Dubai eGovernment's e4all project, a community-level computer competency program, by providing PCs and notebooks. Our mobile products, including Tablets PCs and Pocket Loox, have recorded excellent sales in the UAE market."

Fujitsu Siemens Computers outperformed all IT vendors in the French market, including many international top players. Six of the competitors recorded a negative growth, while three registered sales increase of between 3 and 11 per cent only. The market leader in the French market recorded a sales drop of 13.5 per cent.
