- PRESS RELEASE
Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. today announced it is expanding its focus on channel initiatives to increase the penetration of Acer technology in the region with the appointment of Philip Ashkar as director of sales and marketing for the Middle East.
"For nearly 20 years, Philip has been building up a vast wealth of regional experience by working in the sales and marketing field in the Middle East for leading hardware manufacturing companies," said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
"With a proven track record of success in his field, we are confident that the implementation of Philip's new marketing strategies will contribute to boosting Acer's market share in a variety of segments - especially the notebook sector."
To achieve success in the role, Ashkar will draw on the hands-on experience he has gained with channel development since moving to Dubai in 1985.
Commenting on his new position at Acer, Ashkar said, "I am pleased to be joining Acer, which is regarded as a leader in the hardware industry and has a reputation for launching cutting-edge technology. In my role, I am looking forward to contributing to the success of Acer in the Middle East by working closely with our partners in countries ranging everywhere from Oman to Pakistan."
On the top of Ashkar's "to-do list" at Acer is boosting the company's market share in the notebook sector. "Acer has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Acer is in the number one position for tablet PCs and number two position in the notebook market," said Ashkar.
"Over the next few quarters I would like to see a significant increase in Acer sales throughout the Middle East. With the company's innovative approach to designing market-leading products, reasonable pricing strategy and strong channel relations, these goals are within our reach."
