- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, November 12 - 2003 at 13:27
- PRESS RELEASE
Officials at Dubai American Academy announced plans to begin construction on a dedicated Kindergarten and Early Years block that is scheduled for completion in September 2004.
A contract to construct a 400-meter, six-lane running track has also been signed with work on the running track scheduled to begin next month. The artificial surface running track will complement the many sports facilities and resources already available at Dubai American Academy and will support the schools' extensive sports programme and interscholastic sports events.
The Early Years Block, set on Dubai American Academy's 1,000,000 square foot site will feature a number of facilities specifically designed to enhance the learning experience of young students. The new block will include specially designed Science and ICT [Information and Communication Technology] Laboratories, Language labs, Multi-media Centers and a number of indoor activity areas, in addition to a dedicated Library for the Primary students that will feature computers, books and resources to enhance teaching and learning.
Set on Dubai American Academy's 1,000,000 square foot site, the new block will be flanked by dedicated outdoor play areas and a special children's park for Kindergarten students, in addition to a separate heated swimming pool and wading pool adjacent to the new building.
"Rich and varied activities and experiences are crucial to the motivation and progress of Kindergarten and Elementary students. This new facility together with our well trained and highly professional staff will further enhance these experiences," commented John Collins, Director of Training and Quality Assurance for GEMS, the education management firm which manages Dubai American Academy and numerous other international schools in the region and the United Kingdom.
The Dubai American Academy opened in 1998 in Jumeirah and moved to its new, state of the art, multi-million-dirham facility in Al Barsha last year. The school teaches an enriched American curriculum to students from over 55 different countries.
