The clinic from the pioneering Saudi Group, will offer sub-specialist services in ophthalmology.

An agreement to establish the clinic in DHCC was signed by Dr. Akef El Maghraby, Chairman of Magrabi Hospitals & Centers; and Adel Saeed Al Shamsi, Chief Executive Officer of DHCC.

"This sub-specialty clinic will be one of our major clinics for the region," said Dr. Akef. "We will bring the world's leading doctors in sub-specialty ophthalmology to design, implement and operate the facility in DHCC."

Magrabi is the first healthcare institution in the GCC and Egypt to offer sub-specialty ophthalmology. The sub-specialties to be offered include General Eye Care,
Cataract & Glaucoma, Contact Lenses, Corneal Transplant, Laser Vision Correction, Ocular Allergy, Oculoplastic Orbit Surgery, Pediatric & Squint, Refractive Surgery and Vitreo Retina & Diabetic Retina Disease. Magrabi will be establishing their ophthalmology center at DHCC due to their plans for expansion at their existing facility in Dubai. Possible future plans for expansion in DHCC have also been discussed.

"This is a perfect marriage," declared Al Shamsi. "Both institutions are pioneering organisations in their fields. We welcome Magrabi Hospitals & Centers to DHCC."

Al Shamsi said he was sure that the synergies created by the two institutions will not only be of mutual benefit, but will help in significantly raising the standards of health and medical services in the region.

"Magrabi Hospitals & Centers was established in 1955 as an eye hospital in Jeddah. It was the first private specialised facility in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Over the years, it has grown and expanded to cover the whole region and now is the largest medical care network in Middle East including 27 hospitals and medical centers - seven of which are run on a charitable basis," said Mutasim Alireza, Managing Director of Magrabi Hospitals & Centers.

Al Shamsi added that "Dubai Healthcare City is being created to offer the world's best practices in medicine and healthcare delivery systems. DHCC welcomes all healthcare professionals and institutions meeting the required quality and standards to be part of this unique initiative."
