Radical changes will take place in leading organisations in the Middle East that are utilising the increasingly popular change management tool called Six Sigma.

Initially developed for manufacturing, Six Sigma involves controlling, measuring and improving processes in order to build products free of any kind of defects. Technically, Six Sigma means a product defect rate of 3.4 parts per million.

Six Sigma has successfully made the leap to service and transactional industries and adapted strategies can be applied to every function in any organisation, from design and production in manufacturing, to supply chain management and sales and marketing in service industries.

For some regional companies, Six Sigma has become the most important initiative for change and is considered one of the most potent strategies ever developed to accelerate improvements in processes, products and services and to radically reduce costs and improve quality.

Ducab, 3M Gulf, LG Electronic Gulf, General Electric, Motorola, Emirates Airline, Zahid Tractors and Union National Bank are leading organisations in the Middle East that have embraced Six Sigma in their drive to improve processes, maximise performance and add to their bottom line.

"Many regional organisations have utilised the past two years as an opportunity to gain competitive advantage through Six Sigma implementation," says Barth de Ridder, Executive Director of IIR Conferences. "Benefits from the application of Six Sigma multiply beyond the results of specific process improvements."

At the Middle East Six Sigma Forum, top Six Sigma professionals will reveal how Six Sigma has been implemented at top organisations. This forum is a must to accomplish an enterprise-wide strategy with transcendental results. It will present practical applications and live experiences that will help participants understand how Six Sigma can start or continue to drive performance in organisations.

The Middle East Six Sigma Forum takes place on 7-9 December 2003 at the Dusit Hotel in Dubai. It is organised by IIR and sponsored by OMC Ltd. Additional support is provided by the Government of Dubai, Union National Bank, Saudi Arabian Airlines, General Electric, Citibank, 3M, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Competitive Capabilities International.
